Talking about her move from Italy to India…

“In many respects, relocating to India was a whole reset. I have to really open up on both a professional and cultural level! I had to unlearn some habits and ways of thinking, especially because I came from a more conservative European background. I learned to embrace colour, emotion and community much more freely in India.

I eventually stopped just studying the culture and began to live it; I began watching movies, listening to old Hindi songs and gradually realising how powerfully life is expressed in this country’s cinema. It has changed my approach to narrative and acting. Even while my Italian heritage is still very much a part of me, it has merged with the knowledge I’ve gained here to create something fresh and unique.”

Her experience in showbiz world…

“In India, I’ve discovered a profound connection rather than merely differences. Senior actors are highly respected and connections frequently hold more emotional weight than you might think. Although it took some time to adjust, I learned that art in this place is connected to culture and community and is not just individualistic.

I have, nonetheless, remained loyal to my principles. Indian expressiveness has been balanced with my sense of structure and nuance. This journey has increased my empathy and groundedness as a woman! I now know how to make room for diverse perspectives and ways of being. The most important lesson I’ve learned is to persevere, work hard and have faith that what is meant for you will find you.”

On moving past hashtags to women’s meaningful empowerment

“Being able to make your own decisions and supporting other women in doing the same are, in my opinion, key components of women’s empowerment! Both emotionally and professionally, I place high importance on my freedom. And I really think that support, not rivalry, is the source of true empowerment.

I think it’s critical to support one another, particularly in our field when comparisons are often made. Though I agree that things are changing, more needs to be done to bring about this change and it begins with how we treat one another rather than just what we say online.

Words of wisdom for migrant and expat women…

“Take full ownership of your identity! Do not be ashamed of your origins or background. There were times when I initially arrived in India that I felt inadequate or like I didn’t belong because I wasn’t from here. However, I discovered that those distinctions might work to your advantage. It’s acceptable that not every opportunity will be a good fit. It’s critical to continue learning, finding your voice and showing up.”

Her take on what success looks like today…

“I used to believe that success required bursting down doors and chasing things all the time. But as time has gone on, I’ve come to see that true success is more about alignment—when the perfect possibilities present themselves because you’re in the appropriate frame of mind and emotions! It’s more important to remain grounded and growth-oriented than it is to push things. Knowing who you are makes it easy to draw in the proper kind of work. And that is a far more satisfying and long-lasting form of achievement.”
