How Acting Happened by Chance for Akanksha Chamola

Q1. What first inspired you to pursue acting as a career?

Akanksha Chamola: Honestly, nothing inspired me. Acting just happened. It was my mother who suggested that I learn the basics of acting, especially because modelling has a very short shelf life. So I did a crash course in acting, went for a couple of auditions, and got selected for two television serials almost immediately. That’s how my acting journey began.

Q2. Looking back, what has been the most defining moment of your journey in television?

Akanksha Chamola: Playing Manvi Bajwa in Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye has been the most defining moment of my television journey. It marked my comeback after nearly a five-year sabbatical, and I had been waiting for a stylish, chic baddie character like Manvi to come my way.

Q3. How do you choose the roles you want to portray?

Akanksha Chamola: I don’t really choose roles in a conventional way. If a character is challenging, exciting, something I’ve never played before, and comes with a good budget, then I’m game! I enjoy being versatile and experimental. I don’t want to limit myself to any particular platform or genre because I want to keep testing my craft to its fullest.

Q4. What challenges have shaped you the most as an actress?

Akanksha Chamola: Rejection, intense competition, typecasting, career limitations, unstable income, periods of uncertainty, building mental and emotional resilience, overcoming fear and vulnerability, and constantly trying to balance work with personal life — these have all shaped me as an actor and as a person.

Q5. What is one thing people misunderstand about you the most?

Akanksha Chamola: Everything about me is misunderstood… but I think that adds to my appeal.

Q6. How do you maintain a balance between your public and private life?

Akanksha Chamola: Honestly, I don’t! In fact, I often fail at maintaining that balance, and I’m not even trying to. I simply go with the flow and live every moment to the fullest. My only aim is to have fun, both publicly and privately. I’ve learned not to force things too much and to let the universe work its magic.

Q7. What does a perfect day off look like for you?

Akanksha Chamola: A perfect day means doing absolutely nothing — just lazing around, resting, enjoying a spa day, and spending lots of cuddle time with my family, my furbabies, and Teddy.

Q8. Are there any passions or hobbies your fans may not know about?

Akanksha Chamola: I absolutely love travelling, road trips, sacred pilgrimages, rescuing and nurturing animals, driving, and adventure sports.

Q9. How do you stay grounded in such a fast-paced industry?

Akanksha Chamola: The industry itself teaches you to stay grounded. More importantly, my family and my upbringing have played a huge role. I was taught that nothing lasts forever, so staying humble, kind, and respectful is the only way to live your life.

Q10. What has fame taught you about yourself?

Akanksha Chamola: Fame has taught me that it magnifies everything. Your strengths become iconic, while your flaws become headlines. People often think fame changes you, but it mostly amplifies what already exists within you — for better or worse.

Secondly, fame is unstable. Public attention shifts quickly, and what people celebrate today can easily be ignored or criticised tomorrow. If you tie your self-worth to that attention, you’ll always be on an emotional rollercoaster that you can’t control.

Most importantly, fame teaches hard lessons rather than glamorous ones, and I’m grateful for every one of them.

Q11. What message would you like to give young women chasing their dreams?

Akanksha Chamola: I see you. I know the late nights, the self-doubt, the auditions that don’t go your way, and those moments when you question whether you’re enough. I’ve been there too.

This journey isn’t easy. It demands patience, resilience, and belief in yourself, even when no one is applauding you yet. But never let rejection rewrite your story. It isn’t a verdict — it’s simply part of the process.

Stay rooted in who you truly are because that’s your greatest strength. Not perfection. Not comparison. Just you. Keep learning, keep showing up, especially on the days when it’s uncomfortable. There is space for your voice. There is space for your story.

One day, every “no” will make sense because it was leading you to the right “yes.”

Q12. What chapter of your life are you most excited about right now?

Akanksha Chamola: Right now, this phase is about being honest with myself more than anyone else. It’s about becoming the person I always said I wanted to be — not through big promises, but through small, consistent actions.

It’s about showing up even on the days when I don’t feel like it and letting discipline speak louder than motivation. This is the chapter where I stop talking about my potential and start living it.

Akanksha Chamola: Cute. Affable. Baddie.

Q14. One role or dream project that’s still on your bucket list?

Akanksha Chamola: Historical films. That’s one genre I would absolutely love to explore.

Q15. If not acting, what would you be doing today?

Akanksha Chamola: I’d be working on philanthropic projects. Giving back has always been close to my heart.

Q16. What legacy do you hope to leave behind in the entertainment industry?

Akanksha Chamola: I want to be remembered as someone who was unapologetically raw, wild, unfiltered, and completely unpredictable. I never want people to know what I’m going to do next — that’s the kind of legacy I hope to leave behind.
