Q1. Can you tell us a bit about your journey before YouTube? What inspired you to start your channel?
Prerana Das. I’ve always been fascinated by cameras and wanted to be in front of one. I used to watch a lot of makeup videos and eventually started experimenting with makeup and creating my own videos, though, at first, they didn’t go very well. During the quarantine period, I joined a theatre group and started performing. That’s where I was introduced to scriptwriting, and I decided to create a proper piece of content based on a relatable script written by me. My first relatable video went viral with over 500K views, and that’s when my journey of making funny, relatable content truly began.
Q2. Was there a particular moment when you realised YouTube could be your career?
Prerana Das. Honestly, I didn’t take it very seriously back then, content creation wasn’t even recognized as a proper profession in 2020–2021. But since it was something I genuinely loved, I continued creating content alongside searching for jobs after graduation. What was once a passion has now turned into a full-fledged profession.
Q3. Who were your biggest supporters and influences when you started?
Prerana Das. Honestly, my parents never really understood what exactly I do, but they’ve never stopped me from doing it either. There was never any pressure from home to be a topper or focus only on academics. The only thing they’ve always wanted is for me to be financially independent. And my best friends, the ones who have stayed by my side through everything, are truly my biggest support system.
Q4. How do you plan and prepare for your videos, from scripting to filming and editing?
Prerana Das. I’m a very observant person. I pay close attention to how people behave, how differently they react to situations and I try to bring those small details into my content to make it relatable and funny. Once I have a concept in mind, my first step is always to visualise the frames, then move on to shooting and editing.
Q5. What’s your favourite video you’ve ever created and why?
Prerana Das. Every video feels special to me because each one requires the same amount of effort and dedication. But I personally enjoy storytelling the most, because it gives me more scope to act and express.
Q6. How important are analytics and audience feedback in shaping your content?
Prerana Das. I always take audience feedback positively, especially when it’s constructive criticism that helps me improve. Over the years, I’ve also learned from my own experience about what kind of content people enjoy and how to present it in a way that connects with them.
Q7. What helped you grow your channel in the beginning?
Prerana Das. For me, consistency is key. Whether a video goes viral or not, I somehow find the motivation to keep creating. Writing, shooting, and posting content every day has become a part of my daily routine.
Q8. Who is your primary audience, and how do you handle criticism and negativity online?
Prerana Das. As I said, I treat good criticism as valuable feedback to improve my work. But I’ve also learned to ignore unnecessary negativity, because it only disturbs my mental peace and kills motivation.
Q9. How do you balance your personal life with content creation?
Prerana Das. When I work, I give my full focus to it, I have a dedicated time for that. I try not to let work stress spill into my personal life. Of course, there are bad days too, creative blocks happen, but that’s normal. On those days, I like giving myself some space and time to breathe.
Q10. Do you have plans to expand into other platforms or industries, like podcasting or acting?
Prerana Das. Acting has been my passion for as long as I can remember. My goal is to continue performing, to explore every medium possible and to keep growing in this journey.
